The Shaw Festival specializes in plays of Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries (1856-1950). The plays deal with the beginnings of the modern world. The plays are presented in three distinctive theatres in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake.

After beginning in the town's historic courthouse, the festival's operations grew and necessitated expansion to a larger venue. The construction began on the new Festival Theatre in 1972 and opened the following year. The Royal George Theatre was acquired in 1980. Now these three theatres each offer their own kinds of plays.
The Shaw Festival has grown to be one of the largest repertory companies in North America.
10 Queens's Parade, NOTL. This is the flagship theatre with large scale productions. It features 869 seats, a cafe and a retail shop. If you get there early you can enjoy the gardens by the Festival Theatre pond.
26 Queen Street, NOTL. This historic site date from 1840, is where the Festival began in 1962. It has a 327 seat auditorium with a thrust stage.
85 Queen Street, NOTL. The theatre has an Edwardian interior with gilt mouldings, red walls and golden lions and seats 326 people. It was originally built as a vaudeville house to entertain the World War 1 troops.
Bar Services: Pre-ordered bar service at all 3 theatres is available prior to performance for intermission. It is served at Festival Theatres on Members Terrace or in the Macdonald Heaslip Lounge.
Special access seating is available at the Festival and Royal George Theatres. You just have to ask the Box Office Rep. for assistance. There are wheelchair accessible rest rooms at Festival Theatre and at the rear of the Shaw Festival Shop adjacent to the Royal Theatre.
Assistive Listening Devices are available with and without hearing devices (order when booking tickets - $2.00 fee, waived if you produce a membership card from the Canadian or American Hard of Hearing Association).

Stairs Festival Theatre orchestra seating is at street level. There are steep stairs up to the balcony seating with no elevator, unfortunately. There are stairs down to seats on both sides.
Royal George Theatre orchestra level is four steps above street level. There is a flight of stairs to the balcony seating and another down to the rest rooms.
Court House Theatre. There is an elevator to the auditorium entrance but there are stairs to all seats.

Parking $7.00 at Festival Theatre, limited spaces are available for all including handicap parking ( It's better to come early).You should allow extra time to find STREET PARKING for the Royal George and Courthouse Theatres.
